Can we make this the longest UK No.1 single ever?
In a year of activities organised to commemorate the anniversary of Philip Larkin's death, 'The Dance', by The Holy Orders, is to be officially released as a digital single on the anniversary of Larkin's birthday, 9th August.
In a blatant attempt to galvanize the nation's passionate independent music lovers, The Holy Orders and All Night North
have set the download price of 'The Dance' as low as possible – 69p on Amazon –
and have pledge to donate all their proceeds to one of our most topical and worthy charities:
BLESMA (British
Limbless Ex Service Men's Association)
It is hoped that 'The Dance' will attract the support of the many thousands of people who align themselves with groups such as the 'Storm the Charts' movement (which has already achieved remarkable success with various campaigns) in their continuing efforts to open up the UK singles chart. But the aim of this campaign is not simply to enter the chart: the goal is to decisively shatter the current record for the longest UK No.1 single, and to put independent music back where it belongs — at the forefront of the British music industry, carrying the baton for artistic and creative independence across the nation.
